Accessibility Statement
Last updated: February 2026
The Site Baker is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to our website and the websites we build for our clients.
Quick summary: Accessibility is part of how we build, not an afterthought. We follow WCAG guidance, test regularly, and welcome feedback if something isn't working well for you.
1. Our Commitment
We believe the web should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or disability. We strive to:
- Design and develop websites that are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust (the four WCAG principles)
- Test our websites with assistive technologies
- Continuously improve our accessibility practices
- Train our team on accessibility best practices
- Listen to and act on accessibility feedback
2. Standards We Follow
This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard. WCAG is developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility.
Level AA conformance means we address the most common barriers for users with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
3. Accessibility Features
Our website includes the following accessibility features:
Navigation and Structure
- Semantic HTML throughout (proper use of
<header>,<nav>,<main>,<section>,<article>,<footer>) - Logical heading hierarchy (single
<h1>per page, sequential heading levels) - ARIA labels on interactive elements and navigation landmarks
- Skip-to-content functionality (where applicable)
- Consistent navigation across all pages
Visual Design
- Dark and light theme options to accommodate different visual preferences
- Sufficient color contrast ratios meeting WCAG AA standards
- Text is resizable without loss of content or functionality
- No content relies solely on color to convey information
- Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements
Motion and Animation
- Respects the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem preference — all animations, transitions, and parallax effects are disabled when this preference is set - No content flashes more than three times per second
- Animations are decorative and do not convey essential information
Forms and Interactions
- All form fields have associated labels
- Error messages are descriptive and programmatically associated with their fields
- Form validation provides clear feedback
- Interactive elements are keyboard-accessible
- Sufficient touch target sizes (minimum 44×44 pixels) on mobile
Content
- Descriptive alt text on all meaningful images
- Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology using
aria-hidden="true" - Links have descriptive text (no "click here" links)
- Page titles are unique and descriptive
- Language attribute is set on the HTML element
4. Assistive Technology Compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
We test using the following browsers:
- Chrome (latest) on Windows and macOS
- Firefox (latest) on Windows and macOS
- Safari (latest) on macOS and iOS
- Edge (latest) on Windows
5. Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some limitations may exist:
- Third-party content: Embedded content from third-party services (e.g., Cloudflare Turnstile) may not fully meet accessibility standards. We configure these services to be as accessible as possible.
- PDF documents: If any PDF documents are linked, they may not be fully accessible. We provide alternative formats upon request.
- Older browsers: Some CSS features used for progressive enhancement (e.g., View Transitions API) are not available in older browsers, but the core content and functionality remain fully accessible.
6. Client Websites
We incorporate accessibility best practices into every website we build for our clients, including:
- Semantic HTML structure
- WCAG AA color contrast compliance
- Keyboard navigability
- Alt text on images
- Responsive, mobile-friendly design
- Proper form labeling and error handling
We educate our clients on maintaining accessibility when updating their content and offer ongoing accessibility audits as part of our maintenance plans.
